We all have heard the jokes. I have said it more than once, to a cringing audience. Sizes matter. And this is not what you think it is about.
Shopping and inflation. Inflation. OMG, Are things getting more expensive? Do you get more for your money? I went to the local grocery store I like to frequent and did a little bit of investigative shopping. And wow, was I actually surprised.
We all know there is no longer a half gallon of ice cream sold anywhere. I remember my grandmother asking for me to get out the half gallon from the freezer when I was little. That ship sailed. And Pop-tarts, forget it. They are almost square. Anyone remember the rectangular Pop-tart. You have to be old to do so. But what is surprising my now is the stuff that is shrinking in mass and or volume and it is being subtly put on our shelves with no price changes.
Orange Juice. the paper carton style. I looked today and the new sized orange juice carton is 52 oz and the old style is 59 oz. The bread loaf, seemed shorter and possibly more narrow. Yup, now one pound of bread or 16 oz by weight vs. 1 lb. 6 oz. Same prices for each. It was subtle. And it surprised me. Cans of soup can range from 19 oz to 10.5 oz. And cereal boxes. Even the same brand name, can range from 8.9 to 12 oz. And you pay the same for each. Shocking.
I think I want to buy all these products and start a Youtube channel. It is eye opening. I would like to share it with others? maybe? what do you think?
